Kenting is the best diving site in southern Taiwan, covering the entire Hengchun Peninsula. The Hengchun Peninsula has the first national park (Kenting National Park) in Taiwan, established in 1984. Kenting National Park occupies the Hengchun Peninsula at the southern tip of the island of Taiwan. It’s known for its white-sand beaches, caves, coral reefs & northern mountains. Kenting’s east side is the Pacific Ocean, and its west is facing Taiwan Strait, and the south tip is extended to the Bus Strait. Basically it’s coral reef geology.
The coastline is tortuous, the view of the cove is stunning beautiful, the marine resources are abundant, and the corals grow lushly. There are nearly 290 species of corals found so far, and stone corals are the most among them. There are nearly a thousand species of fish in this sea area, mostly are reef fish, and then followed by shrimps and others…
 

● Kenting Area Sea State

Kenting has tropical marine climate. The climate is mild throughout the year. The annual average temperature is between 20 °C and 28 °C. The warmest July average temperature is 27.8 °C, and the coldest month in January still has average temperature around 20.4 °C. Throughout the year, the average water temperature is above 20 °C, visibility is 5~20 meters, so it’s perfectly suitable for diving all year round. The southern part of Kenting National Park due to the influence of the southwest monsoon and typhoons in summer, it may lower the divers’ visibility, but during the winter time, the strong winds formed by the northeast monsoon could bring the clear water in the deep sea to rise, so the visibility can reach up to 50 meters. Diving sites: south of Xishui, Shanhai, Wanlitong, north of Hongchai, south of Hongchai, north of Baisha and the right and left side of the Houbihu Lake fishery port, South Bay and so forth…. There are as many as 20 diving sites in the area along the frog stone, the boat sail stone, the banana bay to the goose nose, and the resources are quite rich.
